My Favorite Music

Hello, hopefully Human people from a Human just like you Human people!  This post is about music and what kinds of Human music I like because I, like many other Humans, appreciate music.

Here’s a list of my top five music groups (I tend to listen to groups more than solo acts)

1. Pentatonix
2. Loona
3. Dreamcatcher
4. Twice
5. Marmello

Pentatonix is an a capella-pop group composed of 5 members: Kevin, Mitch, Scott, Kirstin, and Matt (one member, Avi, left in 2017 and was replaced by Matt.) They have been together since 2011 when I first got into them-they competed on a singing competition called The Sing-Off, which I watched in 1st grade. They won the show, which got them their first recording contract. They have since come out with 6 albums, excluding their Christmas albums. They are centered in the US, where all of them live and grew up, but Kevin speaks fluent Japanese and they have one medley of songs by a Japanese group called Perfume. They also went on The Sing-Off Japan as guests.

Loona (LOOΠΔ when stylized) is my second favorite group. They are a 12 member group, with 11 Korean members and 1 Chinese member. They had an 18-month pre-debut project (a project before they released anything as a full group for their official debut.) This project introduced each girl individually. All but one of the girls (the youngest) also participated in sub-units before Hi High, their debut song, was released. They have an incredibly diverse discography even with only one full-group album, covering many different musical styles-the way I see it, anyone can find at least one or two songs they like from Loona.

Favorite Loona album (there’s only like one and a half for each unit so I’ll only pick one): Beauty and the Beat (yyxy)

Dreamcatcher is another Korean group, this one composed of 7 members. They have a rock-horror concept and fascinating choreography. 5 of them debuted as MINX with a cute concept before they re-debuted with two new members as Dreamcatcher. They have a sound that’s quite unique for k-pop, and I have heard many people say that their songs remind them of anime intros.

Twice is a 9-member Korean group. They have 5 Korean members, 3 Japanese members, and 1 Taiwanese member. They have met with great success in both Korea and Japan, where they have released music since their debut in 2015. They have a much cuter sound than the other groups on this list, which is something I don’t usually gravitate towards, but the way they pull it off somehow appeals to me.

Marmello is probably the least well-known group on this list. They are also Korean, and there are 4 members (there were 5 but one left). They play their own instruments, with one member for guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, and the member who left played keyboard. I find it very difficult to describe their sound, it’s kind of like pop, but with a little bit of jazz mixed in if that makes sense. They don’t have a very big following or very many songs, but they do have amazing music.
